Open Question: How do I send a package out of state?

I'm sending my boyfriend a gift, but he's in Oregon and i'm in California, long story short: I've never sent a package before I'm trying to read online what I should do but there's so many things..I have a box already, and everything is inside. Do I wrap it up myself..and do I use stamps and an address label? Do I just bring it to a UPS store?
